Thursday, November 5, 2009 All fire units were detailed to 2729 White Oak Avenue to a report of a strong gas smell and hissing sounds coming from the gas meter. Nispco was notified and houses were evacuated on either side. Gas and electricity was disconnected by Nipsco. Vandalism/Paint Ball (11-01-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 Officers spoke with a motorist that reported his vehicle was shot with paint ball from another vehicle while driving in the 1000 block of Indianapolis Blvd. Hammond Police was contacted and sent a unit to take a report. Vandalism (11-01-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident from Wheeling, Illinois reported that while he was driving north on Indianapolis Blvd. and was in the 2000 block when a subject threw a large fish ornament at his car. Officers located a juvenile in the area and arrested the same juvenile for Del Juvenile Criminal Mischief. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department, booked and released to his legal guardian. Vandalism (10-31-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident in the 1800 block of LaPorte Avenue reported that her house was egged. Vandalism (10-31-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident in the 1800 block of Central Avenue reported that persons unknown threw a garbage can into his pool. Hammond Requests Assist (10-31-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 Whiting Officers were detailed to the Horseshoe Casino to assist Hammond Officers look for a subject on the 4th floor of the parking garage that displayed a gun. K-9 (10-30-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 K-9 Officers from Whiting and Hammond Police Departments did a K-9 search of Whiting Middle and High Schools. Vandalism (10-29-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 The Water Superintendent reported that persons unknown broke into a pay loader that was parked at Whihala Park. Officers reported that windows were broken out and a fire extinguisher was taken. Theft (10-27-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 BP Security requested officers at the grease works lot. Officers spoke with an employee who reported his 88 Jeep was stolen. Vandalism & Theft (10-26-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident in the 1200 block of West Fred Street reported that the rear door of his van was punched in to gain entry. Officers reported that tools were taken from the van. Thursday, November 5, 2009 Vandalism (10-25-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 Officers were detailed to the corner of New York and John Street. A resident reported that their car was egged and they know who had done it. Officers arrested a juvenile from the area. The juvenile was transported to the Whiting Police Department and released to his parents. Vandalism & Theft (10-25-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident in the 1200 block of 120th Street reported that persons unknown punched out the rear door lock of his van to gain entry. Numerous tools were taken. Gun Shots Reported (10-24-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 All officers were detailed to the area of 2500 block of White Oak. A resident reported gun shots in the area. Officers spoke with numerous residents in that area reporting it was fireworks. Vandalism (10-24-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 A resident in the 2000 block of Clark Street reported that they are watching a house in the 1400 block of John Street. When they checked on the house they noticed that damage was done to the rear door. No entry was gained. Shoplifters (10-23-09) Thursday, November 5, 2009 Officers arrested two female shoplifters at Family Dollar. Officers transported Susan Pedroza and Cecilio Pedroza both of 3806 Erie Street, East Chicago, IN. Both were placed in lock-up pending bond. |
