Officers reported that a male Hispanic wearing a gray hoodie and riding a bike snatched a purse from a female that was walking in the area. Hammond PD handled. Garage Burglary (4-29-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 A resident in the 2000 block of New York Avenue reported that his garage was burglarized and his lawn mower was taken. Officers reported that the door was pried open to gain entry. Graffiti (4-29-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Officers reported graffiti on the inside doors of the Whiting Park Pavilion and the doors were left open. Officers secured the doors. Felony Warrant (4-28-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Officer Gajewski arrested Gregory L Morgan of 1719 Cleveland Avenue, Whiting, IN on a Active Warrant our of the State of Missouri. The felony warrant was confirmed from the Clay County Missouri. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending transport to the Lake County Jail and Extradition to Missouri. Subjects Acting Suspicious (4-28-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Whiting Police Department was detailed to the area of the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue to a report of a white van with Illinois plates and two white males acting suspicious. One of the subjects was wearing a Carhardt jacket. Officers checked the area with negative results. Hammond PD Request an Officer (4-27-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Hammond PD request an officer in the area of 121st and West Park. Sgt Cooper arrested on a warrant out of Whiting City Court, Ronald Baker of 1438 Fischrupp Avenue for FTA. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department and placed in lock up. Vandalism at Standard Diamonds (4-27-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Officers reported that the double gate on Standard Diamonds along the right field has the latch bent up. No entry was gained to the field. Hammond PD Request Assistance (4-27-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance at 117th and Stanton Avenue. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Garage Buglary (4-26-11) Tuesday, May 3, 2011 A resident in the 1200 block of Euclid Avenue reported that his garage was burglarized. Officers reported that the service door was pried open to gain entry. Briggs and Stratton lawn mower was taken. Writing on Park Equipment (4-25-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 Whiting Police Department was detailed to the 1900 block of Clark Street at Penny Park in reference to 3 males and 3 females writing on park equipment. Sgt Sopo and Sgt Tobias arrested at the scene three suspects for Del Criminal Mischief (gang graffiti). All were transported to the Whiting Police Department pending booking and released to their parents. Detectives to file the case with the Lake County Juvenile Court. Theft of License Plate (4-24-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A resident in the 2400 block of Schrage Avenue reported the theft of her license plate from her vehicle. The plate was entered in the computer. Subject Request to Speak With Police Officer (4-24-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A Whiting Police Officer was requested at the police station to speak to a male subject requesting to speak to a police officer. Sgt. Sopo spoke with Ronald Scott of 1421 - 119th Street and advised him to go home for the evening. The subject refused to leave and was arrested for Public Intoxication in the lobby of the Police Department. He was placed in lock up pending bond and sobriety. Hammond PD Request Assistance (4-24-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance at the Refinery bar at Indianapolis and New York Avenue. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Fight (4-24-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 Whiting Police Department was detailed to White Castle in reference to three subjects inside fighting. Officers arrested at the scene Anthony Buscko of 2414 Schrage Avenue for Public Intoxication. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond and sobriety. Hammond PD Request Assistance (4-23-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance in the 1500 block of Amy Avenue. Hammond PD handled. Fraud Charges on Debit Card (4-23-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A resident in the 1900 block of Clark Street reported fraudulent charges made on his Centier Bank Debit account. Officers report that approx. 8 charges of $127.00 were made to the account. Theft (4-23-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A resident in the 1800 block of Atchison Avenue reported the theft of his pick up and a trailer containing lawn equipment was taken out of the garage at the same address. The complainant reported that he felt that a tow truck was involved in the theft, and that he has an idea on who is involved in the theft. Theft (4-22-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A resident in the 1700 block of Cleveland Avenue reported that sometime after Christmas she realized that her wedding band and engagement were missing. Graffiti (4-21-11) Monday, May 2, 2011 A city employee reported graffiti on the beach house at Whihala Beach Park. Sgt. Greer was notified and will handle.
