Friday, December 16, 2011 A resident in the 1300 block of W Fred Street reported that she heard a loud noise and observed 4 juveniles hitting a garage door that had previously been damaged. A description of the juveniles were given to the officers. Officers checked that area with negative results. Graffiti (12-15-11) Friday, December 16, 2011 Patrol Officers reported gang graffiti in the 1400 block of John Street. Sgt. Greer notified and will take care ot it. Arrest (12-15-11) Friday, December 16, 2011 Ofc. Prevatte arrested Joseph Macias of 1515 John Street, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of Tippecanoe County. He was transported to the Whiting PD pending transport to the Lake County Jail. 12-15-11 Friday, December 16, 2011 A resident in the 1700 block of Sheridan Avenue reported the driver's side door open on a vehicle and a subject slumped over the wheel. Officers awoke the subject who lives in the area and advised him to go into the house. Home Burglary (12-15-11) Thursday, December 15, 2011 A resident in the 2400 block of Schrage Avenue reported that persons unknown entered her home between the hours of 1545 and 0345 hrs. Officers reported that entry was gained through the front door and taken was two televisions, a jewelry box and other items. Robbery (12-14-11) Thursday, December 15, 2011 Whiting PD was detailed to the San Luis Restaurant in reference to an armed robbery. Officers reported that two male Hispanic entered through the front door. Both subjects were wearing black and blue bandanas over their faces and displayed a stainless steel semi automatic handgun. Al the employees were advised to get on the floor. One of the subjects went directly to the office and jiggled the safe handle. One of the subjects then told an employee to get the money out of the cash register and give it to him. Both subjects then left the restaurant and before walking out one of them turned and told all employees and patrons Thank You for your cooperation. Approx $189.00 in U.S.C. was taken. Graffiti (12-14-11) Thursday, December 15, 2011 Ofc. Prevatte reported gang graffiti on the do not enter sign at 121st and Kelly Place. Sgt Greer notified to clean it off. Possible Garage Break In (12-14-11) Wednesday, December 14, 2011 Sgt Hale reported an open garage door in the 1300 block of 121st Street. Officers reported that the garage door appears to be forced open. Unable to make contact with the owner and its unknown if anything was missing. Garage Break In (12-14-11) Wednesday, December 14, 2011 A resident in the 2000 block of Davidson Place reported that their garage was broken into. Officers reported that entry was gained to the garage and the car's windshield was broken and items were thrown around the garage. The owner will come to the station with what is missing. Arrest - Battery (12-13-11) Wednesday, December 14, 2011 Lt Abner arrested Manuel Salivar of 2244 Schrage Avenue, Whiting, IN, on a warrant out of Whiting City Court for Battery. He was transported to the Whiting PD pending bond or court date. Arrest - Residential Entry and Battery (12-13-11) Wednesday, December 14, 2011 Lt Abner and Sgt Greer arrested Mark Dali of 1523 Fred Street, Whiting, IN, in the 1300 block of 119th Street on warrants out of Lake County for Residential Entry and Battery. He was transported to the Whiting PD pending transport to the Lake County Jail. Arrest - Criminal Trespass and Battery on Law Enforcement (12-11-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 Officers were detailed to Midtown in reference to a female to be removed from the bar. Sgt Hale arrested Beverly Mahony of 1448 Fischrupp Avenue for Criminal Trespass and Battery on Law Enforcement. She was transported to the Whiting PD and placed in lock up pending bond and sobriety. Gun Shots Heard (12-11-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 Off duty Sgt Cooper reported hearing several gun shots in the area of 119th street towards Walgreens. A resident in the 1400 block of Steiber Street reported the same in his area. Officers checked the area with negative results. Gun Shots Heard (12-11-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 Horseshoe Casino reported that the bus driver is hearing gun shots being fired along Whihala Beach. Officers reported the subject with decoys sitting on Lake Michigan near the pier along the back road. The subject was duck hunting and all is ok. Possible Theft (12-10-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 An employee from Walgreens reported that the bell ringer from The Salvation Army reported that two males subjects approached her and told her to open the money kettle. She advised them that she did not have access to the money. One W/M wearing a red bandanna with tattoos on his face. The subject advised her that maybe they will take the whole kettle. They left the area in a gray 4 door vehicle. Hammond PD Request Assistance (12-10-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 Hammond PD requests assistance in the 1400 block of Stanton Avenue to a report of a male black that tried to break into the building. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Vandalism (12-9-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 The owner of the American Family Insurance company reported that there are three juveniles jumping up and pulling on the awning that is in front of the building. A description of the suspects was given to patrol officers who reported that they were gone from the area and surrounding areas were checked with negative results. Vehicle Vandalism (12-9-11) Monday, December 12, 2011 A resident in the 2000 block of Davidson Place reported that persons unknown broke the lock to his front door of his vehicle to gain entry and stole a tool box, damaged the steering column, and took a speaker box. |
