Thursday, January 20, 2011 Hammond Police request assistance in the 1500 block of Myrtle Avenue. Hammond PD handled. Vandalism (1-17-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 1500 block of Atchison Avenue reported that two males wearing hoodies threw something at her front window and is getting ready to hit another house. The complainant reported that her husband and son went after them. Officers transported the subject to the Whiting Police Department and was released due to no damage to the house. Arrest (1-17-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 Sgt. Puhek arrested David M McCarter of 1739 Lincoln Avenue, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of Hammond PD for FTA. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending pick up from Hammond PD. Building Vandalism (1-16-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 1600 block of Atchison Avenue reported that he owns the building in the 2000 block of New York Avenue and it was egged during the evening hours. Officers reported that the same subject was involved in the egging of the car is the same subject responsible or the building egging. Vehicle Vandalism (1-16-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 2000 block of New York Avenue reported that her car was egged. the complainant spoke with a suspect that she suspected in doing the egging to her car. The suspect that she spoke with in the 1400 block of 121st Street admitted to the egging of her car. Stabbing (1-15-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 Hammond Police request assistance with a subject that was stabbed on the 1600 block of Roberts Avenue. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Shoplifting (1-14-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 Whiting Police Department was dispatched to Walgreens in reference to a white male shoplifting at the store. Officers reported that there is also a second subject in a red flannel shirt that is also involved in the theft. The subject had a key to a merchandise cabinet. Sgt. Sopo arrested Dwayne Preisser of 4015 Johnson Street, Gary, IN for Criminal Conversion. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department and booked, then transported to the Lake County Jail. Smoke in Men's Locker Room (1-14-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 Whiting Fire Department was detailed to the Whiting Community Center to a report of smoke in the men's locker room. Whiting Fire Department reported no fire that smoke was coming from a generator that they were working on. Graffiti (1-14-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A City employee reported graffiti on garages in the rear of the 1500 block of 121st Street and the 2200 block of Indianapolis Blvd. Sgt. Greer was notified. Vehicle Vandalism (1-14-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 2700 block of Schrage Avenue reported that a person in a brown vehicle attempted to steal the stereo out on his truck that was parked in front of his house. The complainant reported that the subject fled the area when he came out of his home. Garage Break In (1-13-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 1500 block of Fred Street reported that his garage was burglarized. Officers reported that the garage was entered by persons unknown by breaking the overhead door to gain entry. Misc tools and equipment was taken. Garage Theft (1-12-11) Thursday, January 20, 2011 A resident in the 1500 block of Fischrupp Avenue reported that his craftsman air compressor and two heaters were missing from his garage. Officers reported that the complainant said he has not been in his garage since 1-8-11. Officers reported no signs of forced entry. |
