Tuesday, October 19, 2010 All units were detailed to the area of the 2300 block of Standard Avenue to a report of a plant employee seeing a light blue pick up drive by and shots were fired. Officers checked the area with negative results and East Chicago Police was notified. Public Intoxication (10-5-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident in the 1500 bock of John Street reports having trouble with a male subject that cuts grass in the area. Officers arrested in the area Michael Szala of 2101 New York Avenue for Public Intoxication. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond and sobriety. Theft (10-3-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident from Hobart working on an apartment building that he owns in the 1700 block of Central Avenue reported the theft of numerous power tools from the building. Officers reported that the son of the tenant is involved in the theft. Money Stolen (9-30-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident in the 1600 block of 119th Street reported that she had placed USC in a black box in her closet. When she went to get the money to pay the rent it was missing. Officers reported that a live in is involved in the missing money. Juveniles Arrested for Graffiti (9-29-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Detective Stelow arrested tow juveniles in the area of 121st and Davidson Place. Both juveniles were involved in spray painting gang graffiti with black spray paint in the area. Both are from East Chicago, IN and were transported to the Whiting Police Department, booked and then transported to the Lake County Juvenile Center. Hammond Requests Assistance (9-29-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance with a subject that is wanted at 114th and Parkview. Officers report that Hammond handled. Vandalism (9-28-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 The owner of a business located in the 1600 block of 119th Street reports that person is putting glue in the locks of his rear door. The owner suspects a next door neighbor is involved. Vehicle Vandalism (9-26-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident in the 1700 block of Standard Avenue reported a broken out driver's side window, scratches and dents to the hood of her car. Officers reported that the next door neighbor is involved in the mischief. Car Fire (9-25-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Whiting Police and Fire Departments were detailed to the area of the 1200 block of 121st Street. Officers reported that a car caught fire. The fire was extinguished. Hammond Police Request Assistance (9-24-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance in the 1500 block of Myrtle Avenue to a report that two black males broke into a vehicle and took off running. Arrest (9-23-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Cpl Allard arrested Milan Marijan of 4423 Homerlee, East Chicago, IN on a Warrant out of Hammond for FTA Operating while Intoxicated. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department and then turned over the Hammond Police. Attempted Break In (9-23-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident in the 2400 block of Schrage Avenue reported that at approx. 1030 hours three black males attempted to gain entry to his home. His wife was at home at the time but panicked and did not call police. The only description given was three black males wearing hats and drove off in a car. Vandalism (9-23-10) Tuesday, October 19, 2010 A resident in the 1900 block of Schrage Avenue reported that persons unknown were in her back yard during the evening hours. Officers reported that her grill was turned over. |
