Friday, September 22, 2006 Whiting Police received a report of a robbery that occurred in the 1900 block of Atchison Ave. The victim, age 15, reported he was robbed at gunpoint by 2 black males displaying a round barreled pistol. He stated they were hiding in the bushes prior to the robbery. One suspect was reported to be wearing a red shirt with a black hooded sweatshirt and had braids in his hair. He also stated the assailants fled west on 119th Street. Officers searched the area with negative reuslts. Whiting Police received another report from a 15 year old male, who stated, he was riding his bike in the area of Liberty Savings Bank (119th & Indianapolis Blvd.) when they were chased by 2 black males wearing dark clothing. Officers searched the area with negative results. Detectives believe that the incidents from September 21st & 22nd are related and advise all residents to be vigilant and call 659-2131 with any tips or information and to call 911 with any emergencies. Carjacking Friday, September 22, 2006 Whiting Police Department received a report of an attempted carjacking in the 1200 block of 120th Street. A 29 year old female stated she had previously exited The Office Bar when she saw 2 black males. She asked a friend to give her a ride to her vehicle in the 1200 block of 120th Street. After the friend left, she started to drive away when they approached her vehicle and started yelling something about her door. One of the subjects struck the side of her vehicle with the butt of a gun. She fled the area and telephoned police. Officers searched the area with negative results. |
