Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident from Ruth, Mississippi reported that her vehicle was broken into while at Whihala Beach County Park. Fireworks Damage (7-12-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Center Street reported that his home and property was damaged by fireworks from one of the neighbors in the area. Car Break In (7-9-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 An employee from Whihala Beach County Park reported a vehicle was broken into while parked at the back lot. Vandalism at Whiting Park (7-9-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A Park Employee reported that persons unknown broke out lights that illuminate the Welcome to Whiting Park Sign. Vehicle Vandalism (7-8-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1600 block of LaPorte Avenue reproted that her window was shattered on her Chevy Trailblazer. Vehicle Vandalism (7-8-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Steiber Street reported a window was broken on his van. Officers reports appears that a BB was shot at the window. Grill Stolen (7-7-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 2000 block of White Oak reported her grill was stolen from her yard. Burglary (7-6-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Lt Abner requested City Street personal to come to the scene of the burglary. Officers recovered a steel plate that was stolen from the City from 116th & Cleveland. Officers recovered the stolen plate from the residence. Owner advised the officers that he found the plate in his front yard and took it into the house. Break In (7-6-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Cleveland Avenue reported a burglary. Officers spoke with a resident who advised that when he left for school persons unknown entered the house and took his mothers jewelry. The home was left unlocked. Garage Break In (7-6-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 2000 block of Schrage Avenue reported that her garage was broken into on June 5th. A rear window was broken out to gain entry. Numerous items were taken. East Chicago Requests Assistance (7-5-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 East Chicago Police called requesting assistance from a shooting that had occurred in their town. Officers were looking for a white two door Chevy or Honda that fled from the area of Riley Road. Cpl Semancik stopped a vehicle matching the description at 121st Street and Indianapolis Blvd. East Chicago Police notified and sent officers to handle. Car Break In (7-5-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1200 block of W Fred reported that her vehicle was broken into while it was parked out at the Little League Parking lot. Officers reported that alcohol was taken from the car. Arrest (7-4-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Sgt Hale arrested William McCoy of 1715 Warwick Avenue, Hammond, Indiana at Atchison Avenue and Indianapolis Blvd. for shooting a large fire extinguisher filled with water at people participating in the 4th of July Parade. He was transported to the WPD pending bond. Car Vandalism (7-2-0-9) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 2500 block of Schrage Avenue reported that his vehicle was shot with a BB Gun leaving a hole in his vehicle. Vandalism at Whiting School (7-2-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 An employee from the Whiting School reported that persons unknown ripped up the flowers from in front of the school and threw them onto the stairs. Video tapes from the school were reviewed and showed a male Hispanic and another one in a wheel chair did the damage. Arrest (7-1-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Cpl Semancik arrested Niko Heam of 6920 Monroe, Hammond, Indiana while at Whiting Park for alcoholic beverage in the park. Arrest (7-1-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Sgt Butler arrested Julian Alfaro of 6875 Magoun, Hammond, Indiana for alcoholic beverage in the park. Subject was in Whiting Park at the time of his arrest. 6-29-09 Monday, July 20, 2009 Officers were stopped by a concern citizen d\advising them that a gold colored small vehicle occupied with two white males and a white female drive by the park at Atchison and Ohio and shot at the kids playing there with a BB Gun or a Pellet Gun. Officers checked the surrounding area along with Hammond Police. Officers reported the vehicle in question was gone from the area. Attempted Break In (6-29-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 2600 block of Birch Avenue reported a attempted break in. Officers reported that hinges were pried off the screen door but no entry was gained. 6-28-09 Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident in the 1900 block of Clark Street reported a male black subject in the area asking to read gas meters. The resident thought this to be strange being on a Sunday. Officers were detailed to the 2700 block of Schrage Avenue. Officers located the subject that was working for Just Energy who advised officers that there are about 7 other subjects in the Whiting/Robertsdale area going door to door also. HPD Requested Assistance (6-27-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Hammond Police requested assistance with a fight on Brown Avenue. Whiting Police Officers reported that Hammond Police handled the call. Car Break In (6-26-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident from Highland reported that her truck was broken into while at Whihala Beach County Park. Numerous items were taken from the car. Car Break In (6-26-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident from Munster reported that his vehicle was broken into while parked at Whihala Beach County Park. Numerous items were taken out of the car. Car Break In (6-25-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident from East Chicago reported that his car was broken into while at Whihala Beach County Park. Officers reported numerous items taken. Vandalism (6-25-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Park employees reported that persons unknown damaged a clay pipe and door to the hot house in Whiting Park. They also reported that damage was done to the lights that illuminate the flag. Arrest (6-24-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Cpl Kusbel arrested Kenneth Lopez of 1438 John Street, Whiting at Standard Diamonds on a warrant out of Lake County for Larceny a Class D Felony. He was transported to the WPD pending transport to the Lake County Jail. Arrest (6-24-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 At Standard Diamonds, Sgt Cooper arrested Kenneth Russo of 1921 Warwick Avenue of Whiting on a warrant out of Lake County for Dealing in Cocaine a Class C Felony. He was transported to WPD pending transport to the Lake County Jail. Car Vandalism (6-24-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 A resident from Illinois reported that her car was broken into while at Whihala Beach County Park. Officers reported that the passenger side window was broken out and numerous items taken. Garbage Can Fire (6-22-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 The manager of Deals reported a garbage can fire at the rear of the store. Whiting Fire Department detailed and extinguished the fire. Trash Can Fires (6-22-09) Monday, July 20, 2009 Whiting Fire Department was detailed to the 2600 block of Schrage Avenue to a report of two trash cns on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire of the trash cans. |
