Wednesday, January 25, 2012 Sgt Greer arrested Amanda Miller of 1524 Fred Street, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of Whiting City Court for FTA on a Conversion Charge. She was placed in lock up pending court date. Copper Pipe Stolen (1-23-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident in the 1400 block of 121st Street reported that persons unknown stole 7 ft of 3/4 in copper pipe within the last 7 days. Possible Garage Break In (1-23-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident in the 1400 block of John Street reported that persons unknown pushed open the storage shed door that is attached to the garage. Officers reported that the complainant is not sure if anything is taken. Hammond PD Request Assistnace (1-22-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 Hammond PD request assistance at the Luke Oil gas station in the 1000 block of Indianapolis Blvd. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Vehicle Theft (1-21-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident from Chicago reported that she let her father use her car and he had parked it in Weiner's parking lot during the night. The complainant reported that her father came out and the car was gone. Officers checked with the owners of Weiner's and they did not have the car towed. The vehicle was entered into the computer. Attempted Garage Break In (1-19-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident in the 1400 block of John Street reported that persons unknown attempted to break into his garage. Officers reported that no entry was gained into the garage. Arrest (1-18-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 Whiting Police Officers were detailed to the 1400 block of John Street in reference to a female outside screaming. Officers arrested Marco Serna of 1945 New York Avenue for Invasion of Privacy, Resisting Law Enforcement, Domestic Battery, Battery on Law Enforcement and Theft. The subject was transported to the Whiting Police Department and placed in lock up. Smoke Coming from Garage (1-18-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident in the 2000 block of Indianapolis Blvd. reported smoke coming from a garage in the area. WPD and WFD units were detailed at the scene. WFD employees noted that the sun was melting the snow from the roof of the garage causing steam. No fire. Hammond PD Request Assistance (1-16-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 Hammond PD request assistance in the 1900 block of Superior Avenue. A report of a male subject in a dark wind breaker going door to door asking for money. Officers checked the area and surrounding blocks with negative results. Garage Break In (1-15-12) Wednesday, January 25, 2012 A resident in the 1500 block of Atchison Avenue reported that her garage was broken into. Officers reported the garage was broken into between the hours of 0100 and 1400 hrs. Numerous items were taken. Shots Fired (1-1212) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 All units were detailed to the area of the 1400 block of Fischrupp Avenue in reference to a report of shots fired. Officers spoke with a subject in the area who reported that he was approached by a Hispanic approx 6 ft tall with a goatee and a black hoodie ask his name. The subject stated that the suspect then fired shots at him. Officers found a hole in a window in a home in the 1400 block of Fischrupp Avenue. Hammond PD also called reporting that they just had a call with shots being fired in the 2000 block of New York Avenue and a suspect getting into a dark colored Trail Blazer. Arrest (1-10-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 Sgt Cooper arrested Michael K Ryan of 4107 Wabash Avenue, Hammond, IN on a warrant out of Whiting City Court for FTA on Operating a Motor Vehicle while never receiving a license. The subject was placed in lock up pending court date. Shoplifting (1-9-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 Officers arrested Sarah B Hartline of 1421 Warwick Avenue, Whiting, IN for Shoplifting at Walgreens. Officers requested Herrera's to tow her vehicle. She was transported to the Whiting PD pending bond. Vehicle Theft (1-7-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 A resident in the 2000 block of Indianapolis Blvd. reported the theft of her boyfriends vehicle from the Municipal Lot. Officers reported a black 91 Chevy Caprice 4 door was taken. The vehicle was entered into the computer as stolen. Hammond PD Requests Assistance (1-5-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 Hammond PD requests assistance in the 400 block of Brown Avenue. Offices reported that Hammond PD handled. Attempted Theft of Air Conditioner (1-5-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 A resident in the 1400 block of John Street that persons unknown entered his yard between the hours of 0900 and 1400 and attempted to take his air unit. Officers reported that wires and copper tubes all were cut. Theft (1-5-12) Tuesday, January 24, 2012 A City employee reported the theft of scrap iron from inside a fenced in area at the City Barn. Officers reported the theft occurred between 12-30-11 and 1-3-12. |
