Friday, October 29, 2010 Sgt. Butler arrested John Palovic of 2123 Davis Avenue at Whiting City Court for Public Intoxication. He was in court for previous charges. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond and sobriety. Training Exercise (10-18-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 Whiting Police and Fire Departments were detailed to the football field parking lot. School employees report a bus fire. Officers advised that it was a training exercise to assist children off the bus in case of a real fire. Vehicle Theft (10-18-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 An employee from Custom Craft LLC reported the theft of a Chevy 250 series truck and trailer that was parked overnight. The vehicle was entered into the computer. Puhek arrested Eric D Harrell of 409 W 115th Street, Chicago, IL for Public Indecency. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond. Public Indecency (10-17-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 Officers were detailed to Little Caesars Pizza to a report of a black male subject exposing himself. Sgt. Garage Break In (10-17-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 A resident in the 2800 block of White Oak Avenue reported that his Craftsman snow blower was taken from his garage during the night. Stolen Charge Card (10-16-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 A resident from Cedar Lake, IN reported that a male subject known to her who is doing work at a building she owns in town possibly stole her Menards card and charged items to her account without her permission. Vehicle Vandalism (10-16-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 A resident in the 1500 block of Center Street reported that persons unknown ransacked his vehicle that was parked at his residence. Officers reported that his medication was taken from the car. Possbile Gun Shots (10-16-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 Whiting Police were detailed to the area of the 2600 block of Schrage Avenue. Officers reported that the complainant reported that she heard what she thought was 4 to 5 gun shots. Officers searched the area with negative results. Officers spoke with Hammond Police who reported the same call in the area of the 2700 block of New York Avenue. Hammond PD Request Assistance (10-14-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance in the 1500 block of Indianapolis Blvd. Officers reported a black male with three children is intoxicated. City Ordinance Citation (10-13-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 Chief Miller issued a City Ordinance Citation to Heidi Sewell of 3941 Delhi Overlook, Ann Arbor Michigan for Nuisance property that she owns located at 1535 John Street. Shoplifter (10-12-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 The manager from Walgreens reported a shoplifter in the store. They advised officers that they are looking for a male, black, 20 to 30 years old and wearing a gray hoodie with tiger print pants. Officers arrested Daniel Brown of 1644 Lake Avenue, Whiting, IN in the 1300 block of 119th Street. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond. Garage Break In (10-11-10) Friday, October 29, 2010 A resident in the 1500 block of Steiber Street reported that her garage was broken into. Officers reported that the door was broken into and a snow blower was stolen. Vandalism (10-11-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 A resident in the 1500 block of Cleveland Avenue reported that he seen two male subjects near his back yard and they took off running towards the basin. Officers reported that the complainant's house was egged. 10-10-10 Monday, October 25, 2010 Officers spoke with a female from Crown Point, IN who reported that she met a male subject and had gone home with him. She stated that while at the residence in the 2200 block of White Oak Avenue she reported being raped by the subject. Officers request Hammond Officers at the Whiting Police Department. Suspicious Subject (10-10-10_ Monday, October 25, 2010 A resident in the 1400 block of Ohio Avenue reported that there is a suspicious black male in the alley carrying a stick. Officers checked the area with negative results. Officers did speak with three subjects that were going to work on a house in the area. Bike Theft (10-9-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 A resident in the 1800 block of Indianapolis Blvd. reported that a person known to him stole his Schwinn 10 speed bike from the hallway. Hammond Request Assistance (10-9-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance with a hold up alarm at the 7-11. Cpl. Jacko reported that everything was fine - no problems. Hammond Police Request Assistance (10-9-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance in the alley rear of the 1600 block of Calumet Avenue. Officers reported that there was a report of glass breaking. Officers reported negative results. Shots Fired (10-9-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance with shot fired in the 2600 block of White Oak Avenue. Officers checked the area with negative results. Business Vandalism (10-8-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 The owner of Anna's Beauty Shop located in the 1400 block of 119th Street reported that persons unknown egged the front of her business and destroyed the corn stocks that were decorating the front. Garbage Tote Theft (10-7-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Whiting Street Commissioner Steve Spebar reported that persons unknown had stolen six of the City's garbage totes from the alley rear of the 1400 block of Fischrupp Avenue and John Street. Theft at Walgreens (10-7-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Whiting Police Department was detailed to Walgreens to a report of a subject stealing a bottle of alcohol by a white male wearing blue jeans and was heading north on Indianapolis Blvd. Officers arrested Paul Puzon, homeless, for Conversion. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department and placed in lock up. Juveniles Arrested (10-7-10) Monday, October 25, 2010 Whiting Police Department was detailed to Weiner Foods to a report that the owner of the store caught two juveniles attempting to steal cigarettes. Officers arrested the juveniles and transported them to the Whiting Police Department. Both were released to their parents. |
