Whiting Police Make Drug Arrests

Officers detailed to the 1500 block of John Street reference four juveniles smoking an illegal substance in a car parked in that area. Squad officers requested Detectives to come check out the area. Detectives and officers arrested Jeffery A. Williams age 26 of 1522 John street for possession of marijuana. Williams was transported to Whiting PD for booking and bond. Also arrested for felony possession of marijuana was Cynthia E. Benavente age 43 of 1114 May Street Hammond, Indiana. Benavente was transported to Whiting PD for booking and transport to the Lake County jail. Three other subjects in the car with the above were checked and released, with no charges.
