Friday, December 11, 2009 The owner of Memory Makers requested officers to a report of a theft. Officers reported numerous photo items taken from the garage. The garage door was left open. Attempted Theft - Copper Gutter (12-5-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1600 block of Cleveland Avenue reported hearing noises at the rear of their home. When the complainant went out to check he noticed bicycle tracks leaving from the rear of his home. He also noticed a attempted theft of copper gutter from his home. Possession of Cocaine (12-02-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 Detective Lt. Abner and Sgt. Greer arrested Steven McCarter of 2113 New York Avenue on a warrant out of Lake County for Possession of Cocaine. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending transport to the Lake County Jail. Gas Leak (12-02-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 All Whiting Units along with the Whiting Fire Department were detailed to the Community Center to a report of a gas leak. Theft - Copper Gutters (12-01-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1700 block of Central Avenue reported a section of copper gutter was stolen from along the north side of her home. Also, a resident in the 1600 block of Cleveland reported a section of copper gutter was stolen from her home. Electricity Stolen (12-1-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1200 block of W. Fred Street reported that the next door neighbor was stealing electricity from her. Officers reported an extension cord was hooked up into the complainant's electric meter. Officers requested the Building Commissioner at the scene. Vehicle Theft (12-1-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident from New York Avenue reported that his vehicle was stolen during the night while it was parked on 121st Street. Theft - Copper Gutters (11-30-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 The Whiting Public Library reported that they noticed a 12 ft. section of copper gutter was stolen from the building. Vandalism (11-25-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1700 block of Central Avenue reported that persons unknown threw pumpkins at her window breaking the glass. Vandalism (11-25-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1700 block of Sheridan Avenue reported that persons unknown threw pumpkins at his glass door and then took off running. Shoplifting (11-25-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 Sgt. Adams arrested Amanda Miller of 2508 Schrage Avenue for shoplifting at Walgreens. She was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond. Theft - Copper Gutters (11-24-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1300 block of 119th Street reported that a white male subject approx. 5' 10" tired to steal a copper gutter from her residence. Officers checked the area on the male subject, but he left before officers arrived. Theft - Air Conditioner (11-24-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Fred Street, Whiting, IN reported that his air conditioner unit was stolen sometime during the evening hours. Deported Felon (11-23-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 BP Security requests officers at Gate 9 to a report of an employee having drugs while on the job. Officers arrested Isaisa Martinez of 3925 Butternut Ave, East Chicago, IN as a Deported Felon. Immigration and Custom Officials were contacted and a hold was placed on the subject. Vandalism (11-23-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Fischrupp Avenue reported that persons egged her house with eggs that contained either food coloring or some type of colored dye. Possession of Marijuana (11-21-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 Sgt. Hale arrested Michael Puente of 2700 W 57th Avenue, Merrillville, IN at 118th and Cleveland Avenue for Possession of Marijuana. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond. Vandalism (11-21-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1700 block of Standard Avenue reported that a person unknown broke the windshield of her van parked in front of her residence. Gun Shots (11-21-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 A resident in the 1500 block of Atchison Avenue reported that she heard gun shots in the rear of her residence and seen two subjects running away. Officers checked the area and found no one in the area or any damage. Welfare Fraud (11-20-09) Friday, December 11, 2009 Detective Lt. Abner and Sgt. Greer arrested Deborah Lindquest of 1733 Center Street, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of Lake County for Welfare Fraud. She was placed in lock-up pending transport to the Lake County Jail. |
