Theft (11-1-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 2000 block of New York Avenue reported the theft of packages from off her porch that was delivered by the post office. Officers reported that the package contained clothing and a video game. Scam (11-1-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1700 block of Central Avenue came to the Whiting Police Department to report that she received a call from a subject by the name of Frank White with a phone number of 876-482-4306 advising her that she had won millions of dollars and she had to send him $3500.00 to cover the taxes on the winnings. The complainant reported that the number on her caller ID was 219-345-2090. The complainant was advised that this is a scam and not to send any money. Vandalism (11-1-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1700 block of Central Avenue reported that someone threw a pumpkin at her window breaking the same. officers reported both inner and outer windows broken. Vehicle Vandalism (10-31-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1400 block of 121st Street reported that persons unknown broke the rear view mirror from off the driver's side of his 2007 Tan Ford Fusion. Kids Egging Houses (10-29-10-) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1800 block of Sheridan Avenue reported that kids are out in the area egging houses. Arrest (10-28-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Lt. Abner requested officers at 1913 Clark Street 2nd floor apartment. Officers arrested Daniel B Mergl of 1913 Clark Street on a warrant out of Porter County,. He was transported to the Whiting Police Department and booked and then transported to Porter County Jail. Nuisance Property Violation (10-27-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Chief Miller issued Nuisance Property Violation to Jesue Jauregui of 9024 S 78 Hickory Hills, IL. He is the owner of 1321 - 121st Street, Whiting, IN. Officers noted numerous disturbance calls at that location. Vehicle Vandalism (10-27-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1700 block of 119th Street reported that persons unknown drew on the windows of her vehicle with a blue substance. Vehicle Vandalism (10-17-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 2600 block of Schrage Avenue reported that persons unknown placed some type of blue substance on her vehicle during the night. Nuisance Property Violation (10-26-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Chief Miller issued a City Ordinance Nuisance Property Violation to Juan Villasenor of 1539 119th Street Whiting, IN. Officers have numerous calls to his property for disturbance's. Friday, November 12, 2010 Cpl Allard arrested Renee M Lusebrink of 1535 John Street, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of City Court for Criminal Mischief. Lusebrink was driving a Brown Buick in the 1500 block of 119th Street. Also arrested a passenger in the car was Dillion Woodrow Burgan of 1535 John Street also on a warrant out of City Court for Criminal Mischief. Both were transported to the Whiting Police Department pending bond and court date. Arrest for Animal Care Regulations (10-25-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Sgt Hale and Animal Warden Jakubowski arrested Dina De Lapaz of 1215 W Fred Street for Animal Care Regulations, Rabies Control and no City Animal License. Animals were transported to the City Barn. Disturbance (10-24-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Whiting Police was detailed to a disturbance in the 1300 block of 121st Street. Reports of the upstairs and downstairs in an argument. While at the scene of the disturbance Sgt Greer arrested a female who was wanted out of Whiting City Court. Arrested was Margarita Vargas of 3825 Evergreen, East Chicago, IN on a Warrant for Criminal Mischief. She was transported to the Whiting Police Department and placed in lock-up pending bond. Garage Vandalism (10-24-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1700 block of Central Avenue reported that persons unknown either spray painted or threw a dark gray substance on his garage. Hammond PD Request Assistanct (10-23-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Hammond Police request assistance with a subject laying on the ground at New York and Indianapolis Blvd. Officers located the subject and transported the same to his residence in the 2400 block of Birch Avenue. Arrest for FTA (10-22-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Detective Stelow arrested Teresa Gutierrez of 4308 Ivy Street, East Chicago, IN in the 1900 block of Schrage Avenue on a warrant out of City Court for FTA for Driving While Suspended (Prior). She was transported to the Whiting Police Department Theft on Visa Account (10-21-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident from the 1400 block of Steiber Street reported that persons unknown gained access to her Visa account and charged $751.45 to her account without her permission. Smoke in Building (10-21-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Whiting Fire and Police Departments were detailed to a fire at Castellan at 1246 - 119th Street to a report of smoke in the building. Fire units reported no fire, just smoke from a plastic cup left on a heating plate. Mischief (10-20-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1900 block of Clark Street to a report that tow juveniles walking in the area threw firecrackers on their porch and were heading towards Walgreens. Officers were detailed in the area and were looking for two females, one wearing a light brown hoodie and the other a light blue hoodie. Garae Break In (10-20-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 1900 block of Schrage Avenue reported that persons unknown broke into his garage and stole a JVC Stereo. Gas Smell (10-20-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Whiting Fire Department was detailed to the 1600 block of John Street to a report of a gas smell in the home. Subjects Looking Into Garages (10-19-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident in the 2000 block of Indianapolis Blvd. reported that a gold Chevy Caprice occupied with 4 subjects was riding around looking into open garages. Officers notified to look out for the subjects. I-Pod Stolen (10-19-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 A resident from Chicago, IL reported that while she was banking at Chase Bank she placed her I-Pod on the counter and handed the teller some paper work. She then walked away and realized she had left you I-Pod on the counter. When she returned to the counter her I-Pod was gone. Evacuation Drill (10-19-10) Friday, November 12, 2010 Whiting Police and Fire Departments were detailed to an evacuation drill at the Whiting High School Football Field. The drill was to assist the kids from a school bus fire. |
