Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Sgt Hale arrested Abdelaziz Sobuh of 2741 White Oak Avenue on a Warrant out of Whiting City Court for Conversion. He was transported to the Whiting PD and placed in lock-up pending court date. Arrest - Operating a Vehicle with No License (9-26-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Detective Sgt Greer arrested Tyren Smith of 6925 Barrie Lynn Rd., Hammond, IN on a Warrant out of Whiting City Court for Operating while never receiving a license. The subject was arrested at the Lake County Jail and transported to the Whiting PD pending court date. Vehicle Theft (9-26-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Sgt Butler spoke with an employee for the Aztec Construction Company who is a contractor for the BP Refinery who reported the theft of a 2009 White Chevy Pick-up. Officers reported that the truck was taken from a BP parking lot. Officers reported that the keys were left in the vehicle at the time of the theft. The vehicle was entered into the computer. Vandalism (9-25-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 WPD was detailed to the area of the 1700 block of 119th Street to a report of subjects in the area shooting off dynamite and one of them was thrown on the new roof to her home. The complainant reports that the subjects are at the rear of the house. Officers spoke with a subject who is a renter and showed officers damage to the porch and siding. Officers spoke with the complainant who advised that there was no damage to the roof but there was a hole in the yard. The complainant reported that her son had seen three juveniles in the alley and then head towards the park. Suspicious Subjects (9-25-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 WPD was detailed to the rear of the Hoosier Flower Shop with reports of three suspicious subjects in the alley and one wearing a gray hoodie. Officers located three juveniles that were on their way to the Hoosier Theatre. Hammond PD Request Assistance (9-25-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond Pd requested assistance in the 1600 block of Calumet Avenue. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Possible Gun Shots (9-24-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond PD called to advise about approx 6 to 8 gun shots in the area of the 1500 - 1600 block of Atchison Avenue. All units were detailed to the area and reported negative results. Vehicle Vandalism (9-24-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 1500 block of 119th Street reported that persons unknown tampered with the storage box on the back of her White 2005 Chevy pick-up. Also, some loose change was taken from the vehicle. The vehicle was parked on White Oak Avenue. Arrest Battery (9-23-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Det Sgt Stelow arrested William R McCoy on a warrant out of Whiting City Court for Battery a Class A Misdemeanor while at the Hammond PD. He was transported to the Whiting PD and placed in lock-up pending bond. Graffiti (9-23-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Lt Tobias reports graffiti on the overhead garage door located in the 2000 block of Clark Street. Theft (9-22-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 2400 block of Schrage Avenue reported a theft from her residence. Officers spoke with the complainant who reported that someone entered her home and stole several items. The complainant believes that the subject involved is known to her. Home Vandalism (9-21-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 2100 block of Schrage Avenue to a report that her home had just been egged by subjects in a white pick-up truck. Accidential Stabbing (9-21-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 1900 block of Schrage Avenue requested an ambulance and officers at the downstairs apartment. The complainant reported that her brother was located on the kitchen floor with a knife in his chest. The subject was transported to the hospital for treatment. Detectives also arrived at the hospital and spoke with the victim who reported that he fell in the kitchen causing the knife to enter his chest. Detectives ruled out any type of foul play and no one had entered the apartment. The victim will recover from his injury. Animals Running Loose (9-21-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 1700 block of 119th Street reported approx. 6-8 dogs just turned the corner from 119th Street onto Front Street. Sgt Sopo located the dogs and the owner. Officers issued a citation to court to Bruce Mill of 1727 Center Street for Animals running loose. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance in the 2300 block of New York Avenue. Hammond Officers reported shots being fired in that area. Officers checked the area with negative results. Hammond PD Request Assistance (9-18-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance in the 1600 block of Caroline Avenue. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Attempted Burglary (9-18-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Whiting PD was detailed to the 1400 block of Fischrupp Avenue in reference to an attempted burglary. Officers spoke with the complainant who reported that persons unknown attempted to gain entry to her home by removing the rear kitchen screen. Officers reported that there was no entry to the home. Arrest (9-18-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Sgt Allard arrested Brian E Acheaon on a Warrant out of East Chicago PD at 120th and Schrage Avenue. The subject was transported to the East Chicago PD. Hammond PD Request Assistance (9-17-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance in the 1500 block of Caroline Avenue in reference to an alarm. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Bike Stolen (9-17-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Officers were detailed to the Whiting Library in reference to a theft. Officers spoke with a complainant who reported that persons unknown stole her blue ten speed bike that was parked in front of the library. Vehicle Vandalism (9-17-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 1700 block of 119th Street reported that persons unknown knocked off the dirver side mirror from his Gray Hyundi while it was parked in front of his residency. Hammond PD Request Assistance (9-16-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Hammond PD request assistance at Piggy's Bar in reference to a fight in progress. Officers reported that Hammond PD handled. Stolen Phone (9-15-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 An employee form the Community Center requested officers due to a stolen phone. Officers spoke with a juvenile who reported that his Dad's cell phone was stolen while he was playing basketball. The case was turned over to the detective bureau. Vehcile Break In (9-15-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Car 50 was detailed to the BP Globe Lot in reference to a theft. Officers spoke with a complainant from Missouri who reported that his truck was broken into and numerous items stolen. License Plate Stolen (9-15-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 A resident in the 1700 block of LaPorte Avenue reported that she lost the license plate from her vehicle. The complainant reported unknown where or when it was lost. The plate was entered into the computer as stolen. Possible Fire (9-15-11) Wednesday, October 12, 2011 WFD and WPD were detailed to the 1500 block of John Street to a report of smoke coming from the back house. WFD reported a piece of plywood smoldering possible due to a cigarette. Officers secured the building and board up services were called out for the basement windows. |
