Recycling Program

Recycling

Why does Whiting Recycle?

Whiting recycles because it benefits the environment and it reduces the cost of solid waste disposal.  You can learn how recycling improves the environment by visiting the City’s “Green Initiative” web pages and see how recycling reduces the cost to dispose of the City’s trash and waste by reviewing our “Recycling Saves Report”.  Reducing the cost of disposal not only saves property tax dollars, but in Whiting, it has been the primary reason why a monthly trash pick-up fee has not been instituted to date.
