Several City Projects Underway

An aggressive slate of City projects have begun over the past few weeks. Each of these projects will have varying start and completion dates and questions related to the specific project schedule can be routed to the City's Engineering Department at 659-7700. Here is a list of projects that have been approved and funded: - Reconstruction of the 2400 Block of Schrage Ave.
- Construction of the new Walgreen's store
- Replacement of 100-year old brick sewers on Temple Court and new Walgreen's alley
- Demolition of the former Justak Trucking Company buildings
- Construction of 5 new homes on 1900 block of New York Ave.
- Major renovation of Standard Avenue and Front Street from Front Street to E.C. limits
- Flooding repairs for alley between 1500 block of 119th and Fischrupp
- Sewer problem corrections for 2600 block of White Oak
- Site preparation for two Senior Condo buildings on 119th Street east of Schrage Ave.
- Paving projects which include:
- Alley at 2600 block of Schrage/White Oak
- Alley at 2700 block of Schrage/White Oak
- Alley between the 1200 block of 120th and West Fred
- Alley between the 1200 block of West Fred and 121st St.
- Alley at Center Street adjacent to railroad tracks
- Miscellaneous patches and repairs
- Whiting Park Pavillion restoration project
- 3 new homes on Center Street housing project
- Sidewalk repair project to include dozens of damaged areas throughout the City
- Renovation and preparation for the opening of 3 new restaurants/eateries on 119th Street
- Whiting Community Center window replacement
- Whiting Community Center energy upgrade project
This list does not include several dozen projects that will begin in early 2007. This list will be posted later this year.
