Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Mayor Joe Stahura released his 2006 State of the City Report to the City Council today. His report is a summary of performance of the City in the year 2006. Office Complex may be Built in Whiting Friday, February 2, 2007 An engineering firm received preliminary approval to build a new office complex on vacant property near the BP refinery formerly occupied by Globe Building Materials. The Redevelopment Commission has partnered with the Valdes Engineering Company (VEC) of Lombard, Illionois, to create a Planned Unit Development Plan for the construction of an office complex and adjacent parking lot to be located at 2337 Schrage Avenue. The project has gone before the public hearing process of the Planning Commission and now has advanced to the Common Council. If all is successful, the purchase of the property is expected in March with potential construction starting in April. Click here read the whole article. Good Government Initiative Forum Friday, February 2, 2007 The Good Government Initiative Forum was held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Purdue University Calumet Center which presented progress reports, including success stories. The forum on the Good Government Initiative wasn’t just about what the Maximus Consultant recommended.
