Saturday, June 24, 2006 The City launced a new branding initiative during the Wednesday, June 21 Cruise night event. "Our goal is to market our community to the Chicagoland area as a great place to live, work and open a business", stated Mayor Joe Stahura. The new brand includes a new look and logo that can be viewed by clicking here - New Logo. The branding initiative is the kick-off of a major development effort the City is undertaking. In the coming months, construction will begin on several projects across the City. The new brand will help identify the change that is occurring as the City moves into a new era. Mayor Announces Plans to Create Whiting Community Center Task Force Monday, June 5, 2006 In response to the Maximus Good Government Study's recommendation to sell the Community Center, Mayor Stahura announced plans to create a task force consisting of local business people, residents, and staff members to analyize the operation. "It cost the City nearly $750,000 annually to operate and staff the Community Center", states the Mayor. "The Good Government Study has identified this as a high cost to do business".
