News ArchiveTuesday, September 28, 2010 The Whiting Fire Department will begin testing fire hydrants on Sunday Evening, October 17, 2010. Testing will continue Monday, October 18, 2010 through Saturday, October 23, 2010, between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. The testing process may cause your tap water to become discolored. This discoloration is due to sediment in the water lines becoming stirred up through the testing process. If this condition occurs in your home or business, run your water until the discoloration disappears. Should you have any further questions regarding testing you can call the Whiting Water Department at (219) 659-6200, or the Whiting Fire Department at (219) 659-1069. Reminder - Daylight Savings time ends Sunday, November 7, 2010. Time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors!
