125th Summer Celebration Schedule
The City of Whiting proudly announces our 125th Anniversary Summer-long Celebration of spectacular events extending from July through August. Whiting’s Anniversary Celebration is one not to miss. The City of Whiting has teamed up with some of the nation’s most famous entertainment companies, nationally recognized characters, and has created one-of-a-kind celebrations.

We’ve created this summer series to attract new visitors, and to thank residents and neighbors for years of support; we are very excited to see the turnout and hope that it proves to be an exciting summer.”

Studio 659 Art Show
Studio 659 encourages you to create your very own image of Whiting and enter into the “Images of Whiting” contest this July. Prizes will be awarded as part of the City’s 125th Anniversary Celebration! Light refreshments will be served.
*The contest is open to everyone. Your image must be an original painting, drawing or photograph. Submit your work to Studio 659 between June 13 and July 5.
Great American Picnic

119th Street, Downtown Whiting
Red and White Checkered Picnic Tables will line 119th Street where local businesses will be featuring fun picnic foods, summer games and a celebration of Whiting’s 125th Anniversary. Join us for pie eating contests, an outdoor chess tournament, watermelon seed spitting contest, face painting, and much more!

Historic Downtown Whiting
Over 100 cars spanning the decades are coming together for a special celebration along 119th Street in downtown Whiting. The City has partnered with Volo Auto Museum to have appearances by Famous Hollywood Character Cars Tow Mater™, Lightning McQueen™, and the Batmobile™, displayed on Oliver Street, located directly off of 119th Street.
There will be a fireworks show in honor of Whiting’s 125th Anniversary Summer Celebration at dusk.

Stay for the special program honoring the Whiting Science Olympiads, the Lakefront Park Bench Dedication ceremony, and the revealing of the new Whiting Amusement Train.
