Prepare to be blown away as the Whiting/Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce and City of Whiting present Super Hero Saturday in Downtown Whiting, featuring famous Marvel™ Super Heroes Captain America™, Iron Man™ and Thor™! Have a blast from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. meeting your favorite Marvel™ Avengers, and be sure to have your super powers on hand for games, costume contests, rock climbing and more! Put on your capes, reach for your shields and fly in to seize this free, family fun day.

The City of Whiting invites you and your family to kick off this summer with a bang. Join us for a star spangled celebration beginning Sunday, July 3rd in Whiting Lakefront Park. Start the night enjoying a pre-fireworks party from 5 pm – 10 pm with a beer garden and food featuring live music by the Nick Danger Band. Relax along the shores of Whihala Beach, with an amazing view of the Chicago skyline. Then find your perfect spot for a spectacular firework display over Lake Michigan that you won’t want to miss, sparking memories and traditions.

Celebrate Independence Day in the City of Whiting at our 97th Annual Fourth of July parade on Monday, July 4th at 10 o’clock a.m. in Historic Downtown Whiting. Bring the entire family to enjoy Whiting’s traditional tribute to soldiers and local veterans. And to add flare to the fun, be amazed by once in a lifetime appearances by nationally recognized children’s characters including the beloved Care Bears™, Caillou™, Garfield and Odie™(Garfield©Paws.), and famous Justice League™ Super Heroes Superman™, Batman™, Wonder Woman™, Green Lantern™ and Flash™(©DC Comics.)!
The excitement will continue with a character meet and greet in Whiting Lakefront Park from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., for the opportunity to be face to face with each character, capture photos, and create family memories that will last a lifetime.

The classic and historic Downtown Whiting Cruise Night is rolling in again for yet another ramped up night of fun. On Wednesday, July 20th, round up the family and head to 119th street. Eat, shop and take in the rumble of kids and classic cars that will line the streets from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., featuring famous Hollywood cars, the Son of the Mask Car™ and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Van™.

We’re inviting all of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana to enjoy this year’s spectacular Summer with the Symphony Concert: The Texas Tenors® and the Whiting Park Festival Orchestra. Joining the talented Whiting Park Festival Orchestra for a never before seen performance on July 23rd, with their Emmy Award winning PBS special now airing across the country, and Billboard chart topping albums, it’s easy to see why The Texas Tenors are America’s favorite new tenors. Since their whirlwind debut six years ago on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, The Texas Tenors have accumulated a long list of awards, accolades and excited fans. They have performed more than 1000 concerts around the world, including a 24-city tour in the United Kingdom, Shanghai, China and collaborations with some of the most prestigious symphonies in the US. People are clearly enjoying their talent as they were recently named the #10 Classical Artist in the world according to Billboard magazine.
