House Fire (1-7-15)

Whiting Fire and Police Departments were detailed to a house fire at 1716 Cleveland Avenue.  A resident advised that the fire was in the upstairs bedroom and the gentleman is disabled and was unable to get out of the house.  The caller stated that his wife was able to get out safely.  Lt. Tobias and Sgt. Stelow after arriving on the scene were able to get the resident out of the home safely.  The Fire Department requested all fire personal be called out.  Hammond ambulance was requested at the scene along with NIPSCO.  The Red Cross was notified to assist.  The Street Commissioner for extra trucks at the scene with a pay loader and salt for the street.
