Location & Hours

The City of Whiting’s Animal Control Facility is located at 1915 Front Street, behind the Mascot Hall of Fame.  You can contact the shelter by calling (219) 473-4646.  In the event of an emergency or for assistance after hours, please call 911 for immediate assistance. The shelter is open on Saturdays from 12pm – 2pm or by appointment.

The Animal Control Department addresses compliance with the city ordinances pertaining to animal licensing enforcement. In addition, the Animal Control Department has authority to impound animals which are wild or domesticated for violations of city ordinances. Based on circumstances, the animal control department encourages adoption of impounded stray animals, as a means of matching a good home to these often neglected animals.
