Vehicle Vandalism (7-10-14)
A resident in the 1500 block of Ohio Avenue reported that persons unknown broke out the rear window of her 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo. The complainant reported that she heard a breaking type noise around 0200 hrs. but when she looked out she did not see anything. When she went outside during the A.M. she noticed the damage.
Possible Suicide (7-8-14)
Units were detailed to Whiting Park by the pier in reference to a call that a subject is going to commit suicide. Officers located the subject known to officers from the 1900 block of Clark Street, Whiting, IN. Officers requested an ambulance and the subject was transported to the hospital.
Arrest – Criminal Conversion (7-8-14)
Units were detailed to the Dollar Store to a report that Michael Mengon stole a bottle of pop and took off running down the alley heading west. Mengon is wearing a black shirt and blue shorts. Lt. Abner reported that a Red Chevy that is in the parking lot may also be involved. Officers requested a warrant check on the subject in the car that came back clear. Officers arrested Michael Mengon of 1718 - 119th Street, Whiting, IN for Criminal Conversion. He was transported to the Whiting PD and placed in lock up pending bond.
Subject Looking Into Cars (7-6-14)
Units were detailed to the rear of the Deals Store in the 1400 block of 119th Street to a report of a W/M wearing black cut off shirt and carrying a back pack is looking in cars in the area. Officers reported that the subject was GOA upon officers arrival. Officers checked the area with negative results.
Arrest – Littering (7-5-14)
Ofc. Trinidad arrested Thomas R Stelmaszek of 9800 Manistee, Chicago, IL while driving a Silver 2010 BMW in the area of Cleveland Avenue for Littering from a Vehicle. The subject was released after signing the citation.
Hammond PD Requests Assistance (7-4-14)
Hammond PD requests assistance in the 1600 block of Brown Avenue in reference to a prowler call. Hammond stated that the caller hears pounding and it's not fireworks. Officers reported finding a back door open. Hammond PD handled.
Hammond PD Requests Assistance (7-4-14)
Hammond PD requests assistance in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Indianapolis Blvd. in checking on a white male pounding on doors at an apartment building. Officers checked the area with negative results.
Shots Fired (7-3-14)
Units were detailed to the area of the 2700 block of White Oak Avenue to a report of shots being fired from a gangway in the area. Officers spoke with a subject who lives in that area that they believe was involved in the shooting. Officers located no gun at that time.
Intimidation (7-3-14)
Sgt. Hale arrested Curtis N. King of 2259 Schrage Avenue on a warrant out of City Court for Intimidation while at the corner of New York and White Oak. He was transported to the Whiting PD, processed and placed in lock up pending bond or transport to the Lake County Jail.
Burglary (7-2-14)
Hammond PD reported a burglary in the 2800 block of White Oak Avenue. Officers spoke with a subject from the 1700 block of Davis Avenue who reported that his grandmother is out of town and when she came to check out the house the front door had been forced open. Misc. amount of change and costume jewelry was taken.
Apartment Burglarized (7-2-14)
A resident in the 1900 block of Indianapolis Blvd. reported that his apartment was burglarized. Officers reported that persons unknown unlocked the apartment door and took the complainants 47 inch Vizio TV.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department Requests Assistance (7-1-14)
Lake County Sheriff's department requests assistance with a traffic stop at White Oak and Indianapolis Blvd. Dispatch reported that the officer is by himself and his radio is not working. the vehicle is an unmarked car. Lt. Puhek reported that Lake County handled.
Abandoned House (6-29-14)
Units were detailed to the abandoned rear house of 2242 Schrage Avenue to a report of a subject inside with flashlights and breaking bottles. Officers reported that the building is secure and no one can gain entry. No bottles being broken in the area.
Vehicle Vandalism (6-28-14)
Ofc. Prevatte reported that he found two unlocked vehicles that had been ransacked in the 1400 block of Fischrupp Avenue. One a 1998 Beige Mitsubishi Montero and a 2009 Blue GMC pick up truck.
Vehicle Vandalism (6-28-14)
A resident in the 2200 block of Schrage Avenue reported that his 2000 Buick Regal was ransacked while it was parked in the 1900 block of New York Avenue. The complainant reported that nothing was taken.
Suspicious Subject (6-27-14)
A resident in the 2600 block of Schrage Avenue reported a suspicious male Hispanic subject wearing black pants and an oversized T-Shirt walking in the area. Officers were detailed to the area and searched with negative results.
Stopped Subject on Warrant (6-27-14)
Hammond PD reported having a subject stopped on our warrant. Cpl. Gajewski arrested Ryan K Montgomery of 1819 Calumet Avenue on a warrant out of City Court. He was transported to the Whiting PD and processed and placed in lock up pending bond.
Arrest (6-27-14)
Detective Sgt. Stelow arrested Evan T Roman of 1710 Central Avenue, Whiting, IN on a warrant out of Lake County for Disorderly Conduct and a FTA Warrant out of Hammond for Possession of Marijuana. He was processed and placed in lock up pending transport to the Lake County Jail.
Vehicle Vandalism (6-26-14)
A resident in the 1500 block of John Street reported that 2 juveniles, one wearing a white shirt and the other a gray shirt are hitting the windshield of a Dodge Van with a hammer. The complainant reported that the kids took off running towards White Oak Avenue and threw the hammer into the weeds. Officers searched the area with negative results. The van had the windshield shattered and the hammer was located in the weeds.
Arrest (6-26-14)
Cpl. Gajewski arrested Marisa Roman of 1710 Central Avenue in the 1700 block of 119th Street on a warrant out of Lake County. The warrant was confirmed and she was transported to the Whiting PD pending transport to the Lake County Jail.

Cpl. Gajewski arrested Michael J. Rowden of 1710 Central Avenue, Whiting, IN in the 1300 block of 119th Street on a warrant out of Lake County. The warrant was confirmed and he was transported to the Whiting PD pending transport to the Lake County Jail. Air One towed the subjects vehicle.
Suspicious Subjects (6-26-14)
A resident in the 1500 block of Center Street reported that there are two Hispanic males with children entering the new construction home two door away from him. Cpl. Gajewski spoke with the subject and they are the painters for the home.
Business Being Trashed (6-26-14)
The business owner of Ann's Beauty Shop located in the 1400 block of 119th Street reported that she has been finding trash in the door way. She also advised that her front windows have been egged and now there is a small crack at the top of the window. The complainant requested extra patrols in the area.
Attempted Break In (6-26-14)
All units were detailed to the 1400 block of John Street to a subject reporting that he was on the phone with his daughter and she advised him that someone was attempting to gain entry to her apartment. Officers located the subject in question who lived there. Officers spoke with the subjects ex girlfriend who advised that they had broke up and she no longer wanted him at the apartment. Officers sent the subject on his way.
