NEW Stop Signs Being Placed for Whiting School Traffic

In an effort to further alleviate the traffic congestion during school drop off and pick up, the City of Whiting will be installing two new Traffic Stop Signs on Ohio and Oliver Streets. A new Stop Sign will be placed at the intersection of Oliver and Ohio affecting the Westbound traffic on Ohio. A second new Stop Sign will be placed on Oliver Street near the intersection at Ohio affecting the Southbound traffic on Oliver.

The addition of these two new Stop Signs will create an All-Way Stop at the intersection of Oliver and Ohio Street. This action will help alleviate congestion at the Northbound Stop Sign on Oliver by allowing controlled traffic flow for both Oliver and Ohio Street.

Both new Stop Signs will be placed at the above-mentioned intersections on January 31, 2022.

A map is included to illustrate the placement of the new Stop Signs. The City of Whiting will continue the traffic flow study and monitor the success of the changes made.
