NIPSCO Scam

Whiting Police Department is advising everyone that there is a telephone scam going around.  The phone calls say it’s from NIPSCO and that your account has a delinquent balance and needs to be paid immediately.  The scammers are leaving a call back phone number.  PLEASE do not call back.  You can contact NIPSCO’s 24-hour Customer Service number at 800-464-7726 to check the status of your account.  Two of Whiting’s businesses have been targeted this week so far.  If you happen to get a call regarding the scam or any other scam, Please call 911 to report it.  Please be alert and spread the word.
