Whiting High School Science Olympiad Wins Regional

On Saturday, February 12, 2011, the Whiting High School Varsity Science Olympiad team defeated 11 other team from 9 schools, including Munster, Valparaiso and Highland, to capture the Purdue Calumet Regional Science Olympiad Championship. The team scored 82 points and medaled in 22 out of 26 events enroute to their victory. With this win, the Whiting Team advances to the State tournament that will be held at Purdue University Calumet on April 2, 2011. This is the ninth straight year that the Whiting Team has qualified for the State Tournament. The Whiting JV team placed 7th out of 12 teams that competed in the Regional Tournament and finished with a total score of 151, including medals in 10 of the 26 events.
