Whiting Lakefront Project Update

The first step of the application to the RDA on January 26, 2009 went well. The next step is to participate in a work session with the RDA in February to provide more details to the board. The scope of the application to the RDA for funding is approximately $20 Million. If successful in February, the RDA may be able to award the funds by March. The balance of the funding for the $40 Million Lakefront Project will come from TIF bonds, Federal Funds, and a grant by the BP Foundation. The project should be fully funded by July and work will begin shortly thereafter. Work on the lakefront infrastructure will begin in the spring as a prerequisite to the Lakefront Project. The infrastructure project will provide water, sewer and utilities to support the larger project.
