School City of Whiting Parents/Guardians must register ALL students both CURRENT and NEW for the 2008-2009 school year. Registration for students NEW TO THE DISTRICT: Registration for students new to the district will take place in the appropriate school office on the following dates: Week of June 9 13, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Week of June 16 20, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Tuesday, August 5, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Wednesday, August 6, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Thursday, August 7, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Monday, August 11, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Tuesday, August 12, 2008 1:00-3:45 & 5:00-6:45 p.m. H.S. Cafeteria Wednesday, August 13, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools Friday, August 15, 2008 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. All Schools New Students must register twice: once as a NEW student and then register on the dates for the CURRENT/RETURNING STUDENTS. NEW STUDENT RECEIVES A SCHEDULE AND/OR GRADE ASSIGNMENT AT THE SECOND REGISTRATION. Registration for CURRENT students who are RETURNING: Registration for current students will take place in the school cafeteria over a two-day period of time for the purpose of picking up class schedules, taking the student ID photo (uniformity of color/dress code attire), the payment of textbook fees, the completion of lunch/textbook assistance applications (proof of income is required), current medical records, and up-dating student information forms (forms are available on the district website: www.whiting.k12.in.us). Registration times for current/returning students are as follows: Thursday, August 14, 2008 1:00 3:45 p.m. & 5:00 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 1:00 3:45 p.m. and 5:00 6:45 p.m. — Please note: All Students MUST bring in proof of residence and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Acceptable proof of residency for CURRENT Students includes the following: For Current Students: 1. Proof of home ownership/rental/other housing arrangement. a. If address has not changed, bring in a current utility bill. b. If address has changed, bring in proof of ownership through mortgage papers, property tax receipt, closing statement, or deed; or, if renting, bring proof of rental (must provide Form #1 of enrollment packet) c. If the family is living with relatives or other persons, an affidavit attesting that the family is residing at the Whiting address will be required from the person with whom the family is living (Forms #1 and #2 of enrollment packet).
